Working with the street children of Sihanoukville, Cambodia
Because many youth and their families cannot access the M'Lop Tapang Main Center on a daily basis, M'Lop Tapang operates two Community Shelters in the Sihanoukville area, both in slum areas where many impoverished families live. One shelter is in Phum Dong and the other is located in Phnom Kiev.
Both shelters offer ideal environments for daily informal education on a range of issues such as HIV/AIDS, drug use, hygiene, child protection and child rights, gender issues and personal safety. Ample space is available for sports and recreation at both of these shelters. Medical Team nurses visit regularly, treating various illnesses and monitoring overall community health.
